Received degrees from the universities of Oxford (MA 1974), Cambridge (GDipTh 1975), and Durham (PhD 1983). He is the author of volumes 12 (Lord’s Supper) and 13 (Eschatology) of the series Confessional Lutheran Dogmatics, and the translator of Wilhelm Löhe’s Aphorisms. Served Lutheran Church of the Escarpment , Lewiston, NY (1986-89); at Concordia since 1989. Married, with three daughters.

Studied at Concordia College, Ann Arbor, MI (BA 1985); Westfield House, Cambridge, England; Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary, St. Catharines (MDiv 1990); and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, MO (STM 1992, ThD 1997). Author of the Concordia Commentary on Ephesians. Served Grace Lutheran Church, St. Catharines (1993-99); deployed Tutor at Westfield House, Cambridge (1999-2006). Resident professor at Concordia (2006- ). Married, with two children.
