The seminary’s first president, Dr Howard W. Kramer, celebrates his 100th birthday on 3 June. Dr Kramer served as CLTS president from 1985 to 1990.

Dr Kramer graduated from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, in 1948, and holds an STM from his alma mater (1970), an MA in English literature from the University of Louisville (1960), and a PhD in Education from the University of Michigan (1977). He recently celebrated 75 years since his ordination as a pastor. He is currently living in assisted living in Columbia, Missouri, near family members. His wife Valerie entered into glory in September 2020. He has four children, 13 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
His family celebrated his centennial birthday on Memorial Day weekend, presenting him with a bouquet of more than 200 cards from family and friends. The seminary community join with them in praying God’s continued care and blessings on their patriarch.
