The seminary celebrated its upcoming vicars at the annual Vicars’ Dinner, sponsored by the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League–Canada. This year, Grace Lutheran Church in St. Catharines hosted the dinner, where guests enjoyed an evening of knockwurst and sauerkraut. The special guest was Marilyn Witte, the president of LWML-C, who provided an interesting presentation on the League’s work.

Vicarage is a very important step in a seminary student’s formation toward pastoral ministry—an opportunity to spend a whole year working in a congregation to put their theological education into practice. The annual vicars’ dinner offers a glimpse into what awaits them. It’s one of those occasions when the students realize just how much love and support the church offers as they prepare for their high calling.

CLTS is hoping to send out two vicars in the coming year: Joseph Behl and Michael Thomas. The vicars were joined by Pastors Saulo Bledoff and Noel Richards. Pastor Bledoff is already serving a congregation and will be graduating with an MTS degree, and Pastor Richards, who was a Lutheran pastor in India, will be completing his studies in December and will be applying for colloquy to serve in a Lutheran Church–Canada congregation.

Stay tuned for news of their placements at the Call Service on Saturday, May 24th at 3:00. This year is extra special as it will be the very first year that CLTS will be granting degrees in its own name. Prior to this, degrees had been granted by Brock University. Our first graduation ceremony will be held in jointly with the Call Service at Grace Lutheran Church, St. Catharines.

The new vicars and pastors are deeply thankful to the LWML-C for this splendid send-off!
