We often think that seminary professors simply teach classes. While this is certainly their main calling, they are also highly active in supporting the work of the church, both at home and around the world. Here are just a few of the things your professors have been involved in over the past few months.


Dr. Winger Talks About Unity in the Philippines

In September, Dr. Winger served as the keynote speaker at the World Conference of the International Lutheran Council in the Philippines (September 14-18, 2025).

This triennial conference brings together the bishop or president of each church body, along with missionaries, educators, and guests. The conference theme was “Unity in Christ: Confession and Co-operation in a Fragmented World.” Dr. Winger drew on his Ephesians commentary to describe the church united as a spiritual temple.


Dr. Kellerman Speaks on Classics in Fort Wayne

Dr. Kellerman attended the Lutheranism and the Classics Conference in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on October 3-4, 2025.

The conference partly focused on exploring Luther’s Bondage of the Will, which is celebrating its 500th anniversary this year. Not only is Dr. Kellerman part of the organizing committee for this biennial conference, but he also delivered a paper on how Melanchthon changed his views on that topic over time.


Professor Radford Represents Canada in Wittenberg

Later in October, Professor Radford represented Lutheran Church–Canada at the International Church Relations Conference in Wittenberg, Germany.

This conference featured 97 international guests representing 45 church bodies and 40 countries. They gathered for fellowship, theological study, and conversation about their shared mission to proclaim the good news of salvation by grace through faith in Christ Jesus.

Dr. Korcok Supports Lutheran Education in Houston

In late September, Dr. Korcok was part of a visitation team in the Houston area, focusing on Lutheran schools. He visited Our Savior Lutheran School specifically.

Drawing on his expertise in Lutheran Education, Dr. Korcok provided an evaluation of the established benchmarks for Lutheran Education. He assisted Lutheran educators in striving to meet the highest standards in their field.
