Fellowship and food are the main focus of the annual fall Seminary Guild Day at Concordia, St. Catharines. Bracketed by great food—homemade muffins from a sponsoring congregation and a catered luncheon by Chef Paul—Guild members assemble to conduct business, worship, and hear a guest presentation. The fall’s Harvest Day is especially popular with students because of all the donated food items brought that day which help fill up depleted food pantry shelves. Guild members look forward to meeting adopted students they sponsor for the year and greeting the new students and their families. Guild business always includes new funding proposals to benefit the students and seminary.
The preacher for the morning service is the CSSA (Concordia Seminary Students’ Association) president. This year that was Jeremy Richert, a member of Trinity Lutheran, Fisherville, who thought his John Deere credentials helped him understand what harvest is all about! The presentation given by Walter Bogusat, on behalf of the Haiti Mission Society, and included photos and first-hand stories of the aftermath of the earthquake.
