The faculty congratulates 1987 CLTS graduate Dr Tom Korcok on CPH’s recent publication of his Lutheran Education: From Wittenberg to the Future.
Dr Korcok’s first book is an expanded version of his doctoral treatise at the Free University of Amsterdam.
In the blurbs printed at the front of the book, Dr John Stephenson comments that,
Tom Korcok marshals an impressive array of historical data and raises urgent issues of faith and life as he connects the Lutheran educational practice of two bygone “golden ages” (the Reformation of the 16th century and the North American confessional renewal of the 19th) to what is (or is not) going on in all our churchly educational institutions at the beginning of the 21st century. His work merits our engaged study. May it provoke response and bear good fruit.
Dr Korcok, son of long-serving CLTS adjunct professor the late Dr John Korcok and of our former Guild president the late Dorothea Korcok, is assistant pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Niagara-on-the-Lake, and vacancy pastor of St Peter’s Lutheran Church, Port Colborne; a lecturer in the Department of Religious Studies at Niagara University; and a chaplain (with rank of Captain) in the Lincoln and Welland Regiment, a reserve infantry battalion of the Canadian Armed Forces.
