“And a good time was had by all”
The chocolate was flowing in the fountain, the wine was poured into glasses, the meal was done to perfection, the snow was lightly falling, and the conversations were animated for the 190 guests at the Seminary’s “Chocolate, Wine and Roses” event Friday, 10 February, at Hernder Estate Winery in St. Catharines. This was the fourth Valentine’s Day themed evening with Tara Lyn Hart as guest performer. It may be the final one featuring her since her husband Perry begins a deferred vicarage this summer and then moves into the candidate placement process. This also means the Seminary Choir will be seeking a new conductor.
Each year Tara, guitarist Hal Draper and pianist Cindy Mewhinney found something new to highlight. This year’s feature was a number of songs sung by Tara and her daughter Teal (who debuted at the LCC convention in Hamilton last summer). Certain songs even moved the crowd to make use of the dance floor. As usual, all performances were outstanding. Also, as usual, husband Perry monitored the sound board.
Dinner music was traditional Irish songs performed by seminarian Greg Palmer, his daughter Lusha, and Katie Juritsch.
During the intermission guests enjoyed the presentation cake and chocolate fountain along with their coffee and tea, and made final bids for the silent auction items. Door prizes were also awarded. Special thanks to all who donated items and to all who attended this year.
The search is now on for new talent to showcase in order to offer this evening-out opportunity again next year.
