CLTS Call Service 2017

The 2018 Call Service can be watched live here:

(If the link fails, go to our main YouTube page here.)

The seminary’s annual Call Service will take place at Christ Lutheran Church, 140 Russel Ave, St. Catharines, on Saturday, 26 May 2018, 4.00pm. We heartily invite members of LCC, and especially friends and family of the students and award recipients, to attend this festive event.

Second-year student Vishal Paul will receive his assignment to serve a year as vicar in an LCC congregation. This practical “internship” will enable him to experience a full cycle of congregational life. Rev. Greg Johnson of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Etobicoke, will be the guest preacher.

While we have no regular MDiv students ready for placement, two colloquy students who have studied full-time at the seminary will take steps forward in their preparation for ministry in LCC. Rev. Andrianasandratrarivo Rakotoarimah–a pastor formerly of the Malagasy Lutheran Church, whom we know as Ndriana–will receive a placement for the supervised ministry phase of his programme. Rev. Insub (Isaac) Paik has completed colloquy and is eligible for a call in LCC–we will recognise this achievement and pray for the Lord to use him in our church. Other students will be recognised for their academic achievements.

The service will honour Rev. Nolan Astley, pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Kitchener, and former First Vice-President of LCC. The faculty and Board of Regents have chosen him to receive the Delta Chi (Servant of Christ) award, the seminary’s highest honour.

The seminary will also recognise Mr Mike Bauer with the Friend of the Seminary award. Mike, a member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Niagara Falls, has been Business Manager of the seminary for 18 years and will retire in May.
