At Thanksgiving we not only give thanks to God for the blessings of our country and its rich harvest, but we remember His grace shown to us in Jesus Christ, our Saviour. That message is the focus of the Holy Ministry that Jesus instituted to preach the Gospel to all the world.

This Thanksgiving please remember the needs of the seminary, which is dedicated to preparing men for Christ’s ministry. President Winger draws on Jesus’ words from Easter Eve to encourage thanksgiving for the pastor Christ sent you in his Thanksgiving letter to the Church. He writes:

He is about to ascend to His Father, to reign from the right hand of the heavenly throne, and to continue His high priestly work by interceding for us. But He cannot bear to leave us “as orphans” (Jn 14:18). He promises to send the Holy Spirit, the Comforter (Jn 14:16). And He also promises to send ordinary men to speak that peace. Having comforted the apostles, He sends them forth to comfort others (2 Cor. 1:4). Give thanks that Jesus sent that peace to you through your pastor.
