The seminary community was saddened this week at the news of the passing of Josephine (Josie) Knoll. In addition to faithfully serving the Lord in her home congregation of Christ Lutheran in St. Catharines, she was active in the broader church through her work with the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. Josie generously supported Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary as an active member and president of the Seminary Guild from 1987-1991. For many years, Josie made sure that the seminary chapel was adorned with flowers each and every Harvest Day. One alum of the seminary commented, “I have been so thankful for Josie’s love and smile since I met her while I was studying at seminary. Her encouraging words and hugs have been much appreciated over the years.” While we mourn with her husband, Clyde, and her family, we rejoice that the Lord kept her in her baptismal grace through to the end of her pilgrimage on earth.
“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!” – Revelation 14:13
