The seminary’s annual Call Service will take place at Christ Lutheran Church, 140 Russell Ave, St. Catharines, on Saturday, 25 May 2024, 3.00pm. Please note the earlier time! We heartily invite members of LCC, and especially friends and family of the students and award recipients, to attend this festive event.
Daniel Cunningham will be certified to be called into the holy ministry and will receive his congregational placement in the service. Daniel was born in Oshawa, Ontario, and is a member of Clarington Lutheran Church. He was a vicar last year In Kitimat, BC. His vicarage supervisor, Rev. Alan Visser, will be preacher at the service.
We will also announce the placements for three vicars: Albert Ho (from Calgary, AB), Aaron Parkhurst (from Silver Creek, NY), and Vijay Samuel (from Hyderabad, India). Vicarage is a one-year internship in a congregation where the student receives mentorship from a parish pastor and gains experience in the practice of ministry. Other students will be recognised for their academic achievements at the service.
The service will also honour Mr Roland Naujoks, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Toronto. The faculty and Board of Regents have chosen him to receive the Delta Chi (Servant of Christ) award, the seminary’s highest honour. Affectionately known as “Roly”, he has served LCC in a long list of offices at the congregational, district, and synodical level. He was also a member of the seminary Foundation board and chaired the Board of Regents.
