The opening service for the 50th academic year at Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary will take place on Sunday, 7 September 2025, 4:00pm, in the seminary chapel. We invite the church community to join the students, staff, and faculty for this festive occasion. For parking directions see this page. The service will be live-streamed from our YouTube channel.

During the service the seminary will present the Emeritus Crucis award to Rev. James Schuelke, a retired LCC pastor living in Calgary, Alberta, and nominated by the West Region. Pastor Schuelke has served congregations in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta since his ordination in 1967. The Emeritus Crucis award is given on behalf of the regions of LCC to a pastor who has served for more than 30 years in order to thank God and to hold up to the church and the seminary students a pattern of faithful service.
If you cannot attend, please pray for the students as they begin their studies, for the seminary faculty that they may be faithful in their calling, for the dedicated staff who support them, and for God to raise up benefactors for our seminary whose gifts will ensure that this important work continues. If you wish to make an offering, see the options available on our website.
