Pastor Dieudonné rejoices over the new solar power system

Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary (CLTS) is pleased to announce a collaborative initiative with the Haiti Lutheran Mission Society (HLMS) to equip Pastor Willie Dieudonné with a sustainable solar power system for his home and ministry in Haiti.

The installation has proven to be a milestone for Pastor Dieudonné, who is currently pursuing a Master of Theological Studies (MTS). After completing a semester on-site at the CLTS campus in St. Catharines, Pastor Dieudonné returned to Haiti in January to continue his studies remotely—a task that proved nearly impossible without a reliable power source.

Overcoming Educational Barriers

Before the installation of the solar system, the unpredictable nature of the local power grid created a significant barrier for Pastor Dieudonné in continuing his education. In a recent letter Pastor Dieudonné detailed the struggles he faced upon his return home.

“I faced significant challenges due to the instability of electricity,” Dieudonné shared. “There were multiple occasions when I was unable to attend classes because my computer was not charged, which made it difficult to stay consistent in my academic work.”

The new solar power system has removed these hurdles. Since the system went live, Pastor Dieudonné reports that he can now participate fully in all classes and complete assignments on time, ensuring his path toward his MTS degree remains on track. Pastor Dieudonné said, “I truly see this as an expression of God’s provision and care. Your generosity is bringing light into our home—both physically and spiritually.”

A Partnership of Faith

CLTS is thankful for the Haiti Lutheran Mission Society’s commitment to providing the practical tools necessary for supporting the church in Haiti. This project also complements the seminary’s dedication to supporting its students not just academically, but by addressing the real-world challenges they face in the mission field.

Support the Mission

The work of the Haiti Lutheran Mission Society continues to provide essential support to pastors and communities across Haiti.
