Giving Tuesday is a charitable tradition meant as an antidote to the frenzied consumerism of “Black Friday” and “Cyber Monday” each November. Because so many charities are struggling to carry on with their important work under the current pandemic restrictions, CanadaHelps has called for “Giving Tuesday” to be brought forward to 5 May.
As Christians we believe that giving should proceed from a thankful heart that responds to God’s generosity. The giving heart ought not to be manipulated by campaigns or social pressure. But it is important for us to remember the spiritual needs of a people feeling fear, worry, and doubt in the current crisis.
God has provided His church with pastors to deliver His comforting Word. The mission of Concordia Lutheran Theological Seminary is to prepare men to preach this precious Gospel, to deliver the gift of Jesus to the people of this land, and to hold them before God’s throne in prayer. Please support this vital work of spiritual care by giving to your congregation and to this seminary.
